Sunday, September 6th begins a new year for the educational and administrative ministries of our church. I want to thank our nominating committee for their work in securing the officers and teachers and for all in our church family who took the time to fill out the 2009 Christian Service Survey. Your participation greatly aided the work of your nominating committee and I know your involvement in the ministry of this church will greatly bless the Kingdom of God. With a new year comes new challenges and new opportunities. I am grateful that God is putting together a team that is ready and willing to do all they can to better themselves, their classes, and their efforts to reach our world for Jesus Christ. We have challenged our teachers and workers to make every effort to make a difference; to be firmly grounded in the word of God, but also flexible in methods to reach people for God. Please be in prayer for each minister in our church that the Lord will enable them, that He will empower them, and that He will fill them with His Spirit to be all they’ve been appointed to be.
Along with our new officers and teachers, you have selected 3 men to serve as your deacons for the next term. They are Mike Isaacs, James O’Brien and David McSwain. We welcome each of these men to our deacon fellowship and we are looking forward to what the Lord is going to do through them. We also want you to be a part of the ordination service for David McSwain. This is David’s first term as a deacon, so we will ordain him to the ministry on Sunday, September 6th, 2009. Please pray for David and all of your deacons as they serve the Lord and the fellowship of Calvary Baptist Church.
Let us keep looking upward, let us keep looking outward, let us keep pressing forward to do all we can, to reach all we can, and to win all we can for the Kingdom of God. May the Lord refresh us in His Spirit. May He renew us to the task of reaching the lost and may He refine us in purity to be all that He saved us to be. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday, with your Bible in hand and a friend by your side.
Pastor,
David Jones
